History of Labor Day

The first Monday in September, Labor Day, has been a nationally acknowledged holiday since 1882, and it’s been going strong ever since! Whether you’re celebrating with parades, picnics, or parties, everyone’s happy to take a break from the grind of the usual 40-hour workweek. And there’s no better way to enjoy the day than with some truly delicious gourmet fare!

While barbecues are customary, there are a variety of ways to reinvent the usual grilled options. Instead of the typical beef burgers, add some complexity with ground lamb. Or scrap the idea of burgers altogether and introduce some fresh seafood to the barbie; everything from a thick fillet of salmon to bacon-wrapped scallops makes an excellent alternative to the usual. Glamorize plain old deviled eggs with the addition of premium caviar, and dress up your hotdogs by using premium wagyu dogs and an array of gourmet toppings.

From first planning your menu to totally reinventing it, we can help you create a delightful Labor Day meal that’s sure to please all in attendance. Be sure to take a moment to browse through our entire list of recipes, articles, and how-tos for all the culinary inspiration and instruction you need this holiday season.
